Children enjoy a structured timetable of learning activities covering all areas of the curriculum in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage
Led by qualified and experienced practitioners, we deliver high-quality early education that recognises every child as capable, curious, and full of potential. We believe children learn best through active, hands-on experiences, meaningful relationships and rich environments that invite exploration, both indoors and outdoors. Our curriculum reflects best practice, high expectations and a deep understanding of child development, ensuring every child feels valued, supported and inspired to thrive.
List of Services
-
Communication and LanguageList Item 1
Communication is encouraged in a variety of situations, either in structured learning, role play or free play. This provides the children with increased confidence with their speaking and listening skills. The children enjoy listening to stories and are encouraged to respond to what they hear with relevant comments, questions or actions. They develop understanding by connecting ideas and answering ‘how’ and ‘why’ questions in response to stories and their experiences. Children within the pre-school also learn French in a fun way with a qualified early years language teacher.
-
Physical DevelopmentList Item 2
Providing children opportunities to be active and interactive, either indoors or on one of our four outside play areas. Developing their physical control, movement and mobility. They learn control within play, such as ball control (catching, kicking, batting) as well as skipping, and riding bikes and tricycles. They are assisted to develop good co-ordination and control to effectively use paint brushes and pencils for writing. The older children learn how to use a knife and fork during meal times, and manage their own personal hygiene successfully, including dressing and going to the toilet independently. Children are encouraged to be active, adventurous, and physically confident through varied movement experiences that support both gross and fine motor development, health, and self-care.
-
Personal, Social & Emotional DevelopmentList Item 3
We place strong emphasis on building secure attachments, confidence, and emotional resilience. Supporting regulation is central to our practice. We help children recognise and manage their emotions through responsive, consistent care and strong relationships. Children are supported to develop confidence, independence, and positive social skills, laying secure foundations for lifelong wellbeing and learning.
-
LiteracyList Item 4
We foster a genuine love of books, stories and reading from the very earliest age. Children experience a rich literacy environment where storytelling, mark-making, songs and rhymes naturally support early reading and writing skills.
-
Mathematics
Practical “hands on” activities are organised and woven into everyday play and real-life experiences to provide children with opportunities to develop their number recognition and counting skills with simple additions and subtractions, using objects and quantities to solve mathematical problems. Children examine shapes, sizes, weights, distance and time, recognising and describing patterns and sequences.
-
Understanding the World
Children are encouraged to explore, question, and make sense of the world around them. Through play, investigation, and outdoor learning, they develop curiosity about nature, people, communities and their environment.
-
Expressive Arts and Design
Creativity is celebrated. Children are given opportunities to express themselves through art, music, movement and imaginative play, developing confidence, originality, and joy in self-expression.
